In 2005, the ARTOS fencing piste was homologated and received the official seal of approval from the Technical Commission of the World Fencing Federation.
Six years later, in 2011, the FIE World Fencing Federation placed a special order with ARTOS, demonstrating particular trust by ordering 140 ARTOS fencing pistes for 70 countries.
On 19 June 1991, the company ARTOS FENCING was founded. The competitive sports level of fencing quickly took notice of the development of ARTOS.
As early as 1994, the fencing scoring machine SG31 was used at the German Championships in Ludwigshafen, later going on to write a success story at European and World Championships as well as the Olympic Games.
In the mid-1990s, Emil Beck, the iconic coach of German fencing, took notice of the high-quality products from ARTOS. Beck praised ARTOS for its very high standards, leading him to equip the Olympic Training Centre in Tauberbischofsheim with ARTOS's world-leading scoring technology.
In 1997, production began on the prototype of the lightweight and innovative ARTOS fencing piste. After a successful test series at the State Performance Centre in Halle/Saale, the lightweight fencing piste was ready for its first major debut at the German Championships.
ARTOS achieved the breakthrough for its new fencing pistes at the 2005 World Championships in Leipzig. The 75 coloured pistes became a signpost to the future of fencing and also impressed through the successful collaboration with the German Fencing Federation at the 2010 European Championships in Leipzig.
For several years, the Netherlands has been among ARTOS's key references, particularly in the area of youth development.
In 2009, ARTOS installed its stainless steel fencing pistes at the University of Bern (Academic Fencing Club). Satisfaction spread quickly, leading Swiss fencing clubs to equip themselves with ARTOS fencing pistes.
Clubs such as St. Gallen, Frauenfeld and Lausanne, among others, rely on the quality of ARTOS. The next tournament, the Swiss Championships on 1/2 November 2014, was held on the new ARTOS fencing pistes.
This marked ARTOS's breakthrough and this type of fencing scoring technology has since become indispensable.
In 2007, ARTOS became the official supplier for the World Championships in St. Petersburg.
Since then, the Fédération Russe has been an important cooperation partner.
