What kinds of fencing pistes there?
The fencing piste is that surface on which the fencing sport is exercised. The fencing piste is called internationally "piste", in the German space also "planche".
The fencing piste is 14 ms long and between 1.50 – 2 ms wide. The fencing piste is marked as follows, in the middle of the piste a dashed line, each 2 metres away from the midline two starting lines, two rear boundary lines each away from the midline and the last 2 meters from the rear boundary lines are color coded.
1,5m to 2m piste, which serve only as an outlet and are no longer counted to the piste
is located behind the end line. At the individual starting line left and right the fencers start the battle, as well as after any valid hits and penalty hits.
If the fencers exceeds the last 2 meters of its piste side during the battle with both legs, he gets a penalty hit. If a fencer exceed a sideline with one food, the opposite fencer obtained a metre piste ground. The tresspassing fencer must retreat in this case. Now this can happen of course really quickly that the end of the piste will be passed. This inevitably leads to a penalty hit. Constantly when over the piste-side, the chairman may ask the fencers to fence in the middle of the piste.
Especially on major events and international competitions, the semi-final and final battles are played out on an elevated railway. The piste is then built on a pedestal that is 50 cm high. Also located on the side of the piste, a safety zone of 25 cm.
The piste is made of a conductive material, so that strikes down on the piste, not as valid hits are counted by the signalling units.
In the meantime, many materials are used for fencing pistes. Usual fencing pistes are made of copper alloy, detriment of those, their weight of 70 kg. Fencing pistes made of aluminium and steel are lighter, these are often used for fixed indoor installation. The aluminium fencing pistes have an anti-reflex function and are built by using segment construction. Advantages of aluminium fencing pistes are once their longevity. Aluminium is robust.
If the aluminium piste is carefully maintained, it has many years of joy and prevents holes or lack of electrical conductivity. Its non-slip surface is another advantage. The non-slip surface was developed to achieve an optimum friction and a maximum protection of the fencing shoes. The aluminium fencing piste also features a self locking system, through which the individual segments can be built in less than 10 minutes to the entire piste. The underside of the segments are completely covered with a soft material with very high coefficient of friction, so no additional fortification is necessary and the soil is protected from damage. The aluminium fencing piste can be installed on almost all types of floors, there are no clamps and no tape necessary.
The cable rolls in the cable channels can be accommodated under the slope.
Fencing pistes of a textile fabric are the latest and most innovative type. They are covered by a thin wire mesh and thus also electrically conductive. Advantage of these pistes, they weigh only 20 kg, which significantly facilitates the installation at tournaments and other competitions. Textile fencing pistes are therefore increasingly used for mobile applications. Installing a textile piste is a child's play, care must be taken only on the condition of the soil. With all sports grounds, the textile piste is rolled out, then it has the piste to be aligned, has to fixed the piste end with tape, tightened the piste at the other end (shaft-free) and finally the end of the piste again fixed with adhesive tape.
With stone floors, a soft layer (e.g. fleece is rolled out in addition, the fleece should be smaller than the piste), then the piste on the soft layer is to rolled out.
By building a piste on uneven surface, a flatness must first be created, e.g. by 18 elements (1 m x 2 m) made of pressed cardboard or wood. The boards are put together and transverse associated with adhesive tape, then the plates are connected lengthwise. Then the piste can be rolled out and fixed at the ends with tape.
For enjoying a textile piste for a long time, it should be carefully taken attention and regular cleaning be carried out. After use and in case of slight contamination, a broom or a vacuum cleaner can help already. When medium-sized dirt like small stain removal, cleaning with a steam cleaner (at least two heating elements is à 1000 Watt, steam pressure 5 bar) is recommended. A citrus cleaning accessory can be used for larger dirt next to the steam cleaner in addition.
Holes in the textile piste, using a repair kit called conductive silver paint PELCO ® is recommended for once and on the other the heating of the piste with the iron. The broken body must be heated, so that stretches the fabric together (glue is heated / fabric mesh be extended / place close / adhesive cools and sets / tissue defect is closed). In case of contamination of the piste by gum it is recommended to use a freezing spray from the sports medicine. It is important that the gum is to become harden. Or try to scrape the gum carefully.
